Johnny Pal

"Sleepwalk"...the song that was played as a tribute in "LaBamba"...albeit inaccurately (as it hadn't been published yet). The sound of Sleepwalk does remind me of some aspects of Freddy Fender's personality...though I think Freddy had a lot of cheerful/playfulness also.

I am a super Elvis fan. :-)

"Springleap" is a new T-shirt company based out of South Africa. One of the main things that I like about Springleap is that everything will be done in South Africa....the cloth, the printing, etc. I wish that more companies would help their country in this way (I live in the United States...where we outsource WAY TOO MUCH).

Springleap is a lot like "Threadless" online community that creates, discusses and votes on T-Shirt designs. On the Springleap site, the community votes on the best 21 designs each month....that is ambitious (and a lot of work for the printers).

"Springleap accepts entries in Adobe Photoshop®, Adobe Illustrator®, or Macromedia Freehand ® and Adobe/Macromedia Flash®." This doesn't mean that you have to be an expert graphic artist....just know the basics of these programs or know someone who does. Some of the best T-shirts that I have seen are simply clever abstract newbies shouldn't be intimidated.

T-shirt designers can win cash,T-shirts and exposure.

I am not sure what the cost of buying T-shirts will be...but I would assume (and hope) that they will be pretty reasonable.

I am excited about this company. Each month they will print positive sayings in the back of the t-shirts....and that is how the company strikes me-a POSITIVE thing. :-)

In My Life...

-----In the next few days, beta-testing a new coffee from Joffrey's. I have to wait for a day when I can have coffee without it messing up my schedule and keeping me up when I need sleep.
-----Excited about a book called "Another Thing to Fall" by Laura Lippman. It comes out March 31st.
-----On page 212 of Stephen King's "Insomnia"...often read before bed (and when I have insomnia).

Thursday Thirteen

1. Having a fat belly linked to later having Alzheimer's/dementia

2. There are people calling for laws against workplace bullying.

3. More is being said about the experimental drug that Patrick Swayze is taking to treat pancreatic cancer. It sounds like this drug may give him much more of a chance.

4. "This Train" (video)

5. Terra Naomi does a cover of Amy Winehouse's "Rehab"

6. Terra Naomi's cover of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time."

9. Besides Thursday Thirteen, what is your favorite Blogosphere activity?

10. For those of us in the U.S., have you adjusted your lifestyle any in reaction to how you perceive the economy???

12. Started using "Blackle" instead of Google for my homepage. It is theorized that a black background takes less energy than all the white pixels.
Correct that: I am not using Blackle, though I like the look is only an energy-saver for some monitors (thank you, Graham English, for pointing this out to me).

13. Today, (Thursday) saw a golf tournament mentioned on the news in which players had to lie down and duck swarms of killer bees. There was also an alligator on the golf course.

Gibson sues over Guitar Hero.

Surprising is.....

-----Getting bit by a rattlesnake in your luggage...clearly not something you intended to pack.
-----The amount of toxins in a car when someone is smoking....even researchers were surprised.
-----Finding the world's oldest rabbit's foot.
-----A music band of 8-year-olds who want to play at the Olympics.

Heads or Tails Meme....this week's theme is "surprise."

Update: 3/27/2008
More about the rattlesnake.

Chuck Norris National Park? :-)

Chuck Norris Park :-) I usually do not approve of vandalism....but I do find this amusing. :-)

The Easter items you have to take away..... :-(

-----Hobby Lobby Camoflauge Eggs and Spinning Egg Tops...voluntary, nationwide recall due to lead. This will give the people that I have heard complaining about how the war theme doesn't really go with Easter eggs more ammunition.
-----Apparently many Easter items have a lead risk.
-----"Mega Brands is recalling 1.1 million Magtastik and Magnetix Jr. preschool toys"...."The recall also includes about 1.3 million MagnaMan magnetic action figures." The toys have small magnets and were sold from 2005-2007. Given that stores sometimes hold unto toys until they come out of the warehouse or are sold, I would check out anything bought more recently, too.

Do you know of anything that should be added to this list??? I am tired of hearing of the death/illness of children after every holiday that involves toys or candy.

Easter Recalls

Apparently, there are some. After more research, I will post about this. Like at Halloween, one should watch what their children do with the items/what is received. More on this later.

Friday's Feast

Given the choice, would you prefer to live in the country or in the city?
I would prefer to live somewhere close to a case of emergencies. The country would be easier for I plan to have a horse at some point and don't want to have boarding costs. I am into urban sustainability....basically urban farming. :-)

Who is the cutest kid you know?
Various nieces and nephews are all tied for the title. :-)

Fill in the blank: I couldn’t believe it when I heard ___________.
there were people stuck in elevators during the recent Las Vegas power outage....I would be scared.

Main Course
If you could star in a commercial for one of your favorite products, which one would you want to advertise?
Kiva....because it is a great cause. I guess lending to micro-businesses in third world countries is more of a service...but that is my answer. :-)

What type(s) of vitamins and/or supplements do you take on a regular basis?
Nature made Multi-Complete with Lutein. I belong to there club where they send out vitamins, coupons, etc.

They are 8-year-olds.

Thursday Thirteen

1. "What the Internet Looked Like in 1995" When did you first start going online?

2. As many of you have probably read, Patrick Swayze has pancreatic cancer. There is an an experimental surgery available...I wonder what the risks are. I would do this if the risks were minimal and I felt that my celebrity might help advance ways to treat the article says, Patrick would be a walking billboard for the procedure if it works. Anyway....I hope he still exercises some caution in choosing procedures and that he is able to pull through this. Ordered books arrive quickly...and I am sure it is better for the environment. A selection of blogs and access to Wikipedia is included. I really want a Kindle. :-)

3. Who do you think you will be voting for? I am still undecided.

4. Truffuls...I could make a beautiful Christmas tree with these. :-)

5. Food,Beer and Buffoonery of the latest blogs I have discovered. Looks interesting thus far.

6. Sent off a letter to the winner of my first Blog Giveaway. The gentlemen who read my blog are able to win the remaining fairy print...I don't know which one yet. Gentlemen are welcome to leave a comment anywhere on this blog saying that they would like to be entered. :-)

7. "Rainbow" iceberg...from the description of what the different colors mean, this iceberg has been through a lot.

Very neat. If you don't know, it's basically a wireless e-book reader. There are no monthly fees because Amazon takes care of the connection (and it operates off a different kind of there is no need to find a "hotspot"). The Kindle has "electronic paper", so it looks like a real book when you are reading it (a good innovation because I usually find e-books annoying to read).

9. My Kiva investment is coming along well. The woman who I am helping to fund managed to pay off 17% of her loan in the first month. Kiva is a program to fund micro-businesses....many lenders come together to give as little as 25 dollars.

10. Woman in a boat is killed when a LARGE (if the hat versus stingray photo is any indicator) stingray jumps out of the water...emphasis is being placed on the fact that stingrays do not attack humans.

11. Do you think the drinking age should be lowered to 18? I think there should be actual alcohol education programs in matter what the drinking age.

12. Precautions for cleaning up after broken low-energy light bulbs (and proper disposal)....there is mercury in them.

Las Vegas is Reconnected

The power is back up in Las Vegas....there was a major power outage.
Glad there were NO INJURIES. I would be scared if I were stuck in an elevator for that long (especially if I had no way of finding out what was going on).

I was speculating that it might be a transformer when I first heard the news (via @Vubui who was in one of the buildings). When I told Husband about my theory as to what happened,he said something to the effect that it "probably is...maybe even Optimus himself." It is good to have humor in times of slight crisis. :-)

-----Donnie and Marie Osmond to host the Miss USA pageant in Las Vegas
-----Wal-Mart does something good once in a efficient stores (or at least much more energy efficient)....and the prototype will be in Vegas. I am assuming there is some sort of economic payoff to them...but at least it will benefit the environment a little (unless it enables them to build more stores). Perhaps they should start their own electric company....they could be their own towns-like Disneyworld (not being serious...just a tad satirical).

My new discovery...."Geeks on Ice"

Geeks on Ice....a VERY COOL way to meet people with like interests (if your interests are hockey, community and technology). Geeks on Ice raises money to help eradicate the digital divide.

I have wanted to play hockey for some time...though I know that I would never be any good at it due to a lot of leg/vision problems. I don't even think that I could do recreational hockey without getting hurt....which is what Geeks on Ice is.

Someday I will learn to ice skate and then calmly hit the puck around....maybe even play a little against Husband.....but with not even a remote chance of missing teeth, injured legs, pucks to the head, etc. :-)

Anyway...I hope that I get to see a "Geeks on Ice" tournament someday. I only saw men in the pictures....I hope that there are some female players, too. I think that I will plan on going to see one of these events when I go to Niagara Falls in the next few years...."I love it when a plan comes together."

Checking my investment......

I hope that the micro-business that I have invested in is doing well. I am cheering for Marina (who sells shoes). Pretty soon, I should hear that she is in the repayment phase....I am hoping this goes well. The neat thing about Kiva is that the loan is typically divided among many Marina has many people cheering for her. :-)

I am deeply grateful to the "Things I Am Grateful For Blog" for allowing me to win a gift certificate to make my $25 investment in the first place. This will not be my first adventure with Kiva. :-)

"Milk for Blokes"

T-Shirt News

-----Threadless is having its Spring Cleaning Sale. T-Shirts from $9.00! I get excited every time I recognize a Threadless t-shirt when out and about...and that recognition is starting to occur more often. :-)
-----Excited about Springleap....which is in beta right now. Springleap is a community/T-shirt creating site like Threadless. They already have a submission kit available. The company is hoping to be beneficial to the people of South Africa.
-----I am searching so that I can sign up to be an affiliate for Snorg. I only like certain,non-sexual-themed T-shirts of this as Star Wars t-shirts. The world can never have too many Star Wars t-shirts. UPDATE: Found them and sent off an application. :-) Also, glad to note that they don't allow adult, I don't have to worry about T-shirt content getting too provocative. :-)
Now...I wait.

How obsessed with T-Shirts am I:
-If a sentimental t-shirt wears out, I will cut out the picture to put on a bulletin board. If someone else's sentimental T-shirt wears out and I catch word that they are going to throw it out, I will endeavor to obtain it so I can cut out the picture (to decorate something or other).
-T-shirts are my standard wardrobe choice if any kind of depressed or mopey.
-Strong believer in my philosophy...the best t-shirt is a free T-shirt.
-I am constantly looking at sites that tell of ways to modify T-shirts. :-)

This was post 42 for the month....a new thing that I am now marking on my blog. Welcome to my inaugural Post 42 (you are welcome to adopt the idea but please give me credit). 42 is my fave number.....Douglas Adams fans will know why.
Richard Gere finally cleared of obscenity. I wondered why Gere would want to free to go back to India after dealing with something like that. I found, after reading this article, that he is a practicing Buddhist and visits India frequently.

In My Life

-----Re-watching "The Butterfly Effect." The Director's Cut...less flashbacks and a RADICALLY different ending (which I didn't like).
-----Tomorrow is bill-paying day....what fun.
-----Downloaded a bunch of Windows Dancers for my desktop...entertaining. I didn't know that my computer came with this option. They work...but don't detect any of the music I play...still, I might learn some dance moves from them. :-)
-----Unsure really what we are doing for St. Patrick's Day.
-----Still excited about a new t-shirt company called Springleap. If it takes off, then it might be helpful to people of South Africa. :-) I haven't checked into it lately but NoSweat (sweat-free) clothing was an awesome idea too....must go look at my NoSweat affiliate account again. :-)
-----Sipping a glass of Yorkshire Tea that husband brought to me....put Acacia Honey in it. When I had it before it was too it's perfect. We have Acacia Honey from Hungary....clear,sweet, flows easily. :-)

-----Terri H. of "What me,BUSY? Never!!!"...I especially want to thank her for the wise words of encouragement.

Let me know via a comment anywhere on the blog if you would like the win the remaining fairy print that I am giving away via random drawing!!!

Springleap....I am one of the charter members!!!

Springleap has me excited because it is a company meant to be empowering to the people of South Africa. I look at it as a way for them to be able to help themselves. I hope that many of the employees are taught helpful skills and stay with the company for as long as is helpful to them.

Springleap is a t-shirt company, a lot like Threadless.

In My Life

-----Checking out software for scriptwriting. "ScriptFrenzy" starts in April and I will be participating. I am writing a screenplay about William Clark (of Lewis & Clark fame). Writing a 100-page script in a month....challenging. premieres Spring 2008. :-) I have added myself to the mailing list so that I can keep informed. :-)
-----Starting an expansive project....reading through EVERY past post and putting labels on them....expansive.
-----Saddened by the fact that Patrick Swayze still appears to be smoking (despite cancer). DISGUSTED that the paparazzi are following his every move and that one tabloid is chronicling his "last days."
-----I am in the top 0.2% of blogs tracked by Technorati. :-)
-----I am getting excited about a new t-shirt company called Springleap. It is kind of like Threadless and may help the people of South Africa. Stay tuned for details. :-)

State of the Wallet

"State of the Wallet" will be a new feature on my blog. I am worried about our economy...and think that there is still something that we can do to reverse the financial troubles that the U.S. seems to be heading deep into.

Thursday Thirteen

1. The Taliban has pressured Afghan cell phone companies into a 5pm curfew. The lack of ability to make emergency phone calls would make me look into intense efforts of moving to another country. Won't this make the phone companies fail if the lengthy time cell phones are not allowed continues???

-----Sometimes, a rug is the best revenge.
-----Dictionaries can be a pretty good just desserts
, too. :-)

3. If I remember correctly, this is the video that originally got me interested in Eepybird. In addition to the geysers, I was intrigued by the music (which I intend to investigate more).

4. From Eepybird, I learned about this juggler...who has juggled since he has a baby. Shane Miclon....impressive. I wish Shane luck with his juggling career. :-)
Shane is an apprentice juggler to Fritz, the bearded gentleman in the video that I have in number 3 on this list. :-)

5. I detest having sinus problems and need to find some natural ways to combat them...I took medicine today after going to bed not feeling well from them and sleeping until 7:12pm (Thursday). Plus I have a cold or flu...I often seem to get that along with sinus issues. Grumble,grumble,grumble....well, more like a pathetic moan instead of grumbling as I am under the weather. :-(

6. A Christian/Industrial/Rock musician named Eowyn is having problems. Her and her husband seem like really neat people. Anyway...they are having tour bus problems....last I heard they were stuck somewhere near/in Colorado and had already had to cancel some appearances. Anyone able to help??? Maybe someone online can get them to some of the tour stops listed on her MySpace...I don't know how many people have to get to the various venues....thought it was worth a try to mention it though.
UPDATE: Amazingly someone has sent a large amount to help with the bus...more help may be the least thoughts and will be a bit before this tour gets underway again.

What happens to all the fish afterward? From the preservation efforts, I would assume that at least some of them are thrown out...if not all of them. Having an I-probably-disapprove-of-an-art-piece-moment.

9. Reading about a new t-shirt company called Springleap. I love t-shirt favorite being Threadless right now. Springleap caught my attention after finding someone who worked there on Twitter. It is a company based out of South Africa and, from what I can tell, it shares royalties for the t-shirts that they choose to print. Intriguing. This lengthy interview explains how Springleap will may be empowering for South Africa. The world needs more start-up companies with a vision of not only providing a service but helping the part of the world in which they live. :-)

10. Hong Kong schools closed due to flu outbreak. I wish that more care were taken during major flu outbreaks here in the U.S. Maybe I am just bitter because I have gotten sick so many times this year due to having people cough directly at me without covering their mouths....I am sick like this once a month anymore (including the start of it as I type). In the city where I live, no one seems concerned that they are passing it around to everyone...there is almost a cavalier attitude about one cares that some of us get sicker than others.

11. We are doing more on a butterfly garden this year and now I want to be a home orchardist. I think the two would go together beautifully. :-) For the flowers, we are looking at getting a lot of heirloom seeds from Seed Savers Exchange.
I think the fruit trees will likely come from Burpees. Speaking of fruit trees, I am still cheering for the mulberry tree that my mother gave me (which someone vandalized last year).

12. Madonna and Mellencamp...two radically different inductions into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. I was lucky enough to see Mellencamp perform once....from a really good seat. I am hoping to go to Atlanta next year to see the musical that Mellencamp and Stephen King are working on.

13. Besides Thursday Thirteen, what is your favorite blogging activity????? This week I have been participating in the Ultimate Blog Party....I am excited about this because I am having MY FIRST BLOG GIVEAWAY (a fairy print....last day to enter is the's a womens' only party but I will also be having a drawing for the men with last day to enter being the 21st).

VAW-113 Black Eagles' version of the All American Rejects "Move Along". The All American Reject remind me of "My Chemical Romance" least in this song.

"A mash-up of various Chinese propaganda films.
Music is Monster Truck Driver by
T. Raumschmiere"

(Nobody reads the blog parts of MySpace, so I moved this here...and deleted the blog part of my MySpace.)

Once upon a time China was our ally.

John Mellencamp dedicates his Hall of Fame induction to the surgeon who saved his life as a baby. :-)

I did not watch because I was not home...but I am not applauding the dress that Madonna wore. Aside, from the fact that this dress will be immortalized in pictures forever....WHERE IS the dress and why does this wardrobe choice even make sense??? I find it aesthetically atrocious. It looks like a swimsuit coverup Casper the Gothic Ghost's female cousin would wear on an episode of "Leave It to Beaver."

Monday, March 10, 2008

Imagine trying to explain to an uninformed stylist that you want to perm your ear hair.

Westboro at the Eve Carson and Lauren Burk Funerals???

Westboro Baptist Church protests at the funerals of two slain college students (Eve Carson and Lauren Burk). I am not sure I understand-was this a protest???...did the reporter properly label what was going on?

Or where the Westboro people trying to make a statement? Not many protests only have four people and I haven't seen any indication that the students themselves were engaging in any homosexual activity (what Westboro often protests).

Was it like NIU???...a protest of the individual universities' past actions....I haven't seen any indication of that.

I want to look more into the logic behind choosing this event to protest.

I am a Christian of the "Hate the Sin but Not the Sinner" kind...of the "Be in the World But Not of The World" kind. I don't think that violence or violating the laying to rest of others is going to change behavior that I disapprove of. The people who are going to be judged...will be God, not me. I am sure that God still punishes/teaches people in this world...but I am not qualified to interpret/assume that is occuring. The best thing that I can do to help people is to set a Loving Example and try to explain myself in a compassionate manner (when it seems appropriate).

I rarely get this blunt about how I feel on such issues. I would just like to know more of why there was a "protest"...because I may disagree totally with the choice to do so. I don't have a say in this church's decisions.....but I think that Love would be more effective-not angry parenting.

Now back to your regularly scheduled blogging....where I sometimes talk to other human beings who happen to be homosexual (and maybe even accepting of Christ).

Someday maybe I will be able to say this blog is an antique.

In My Life

-----I got accepted to beta test a coffee!!! All one has to do is look around this blog to see why I am excited about that. :-)
-----Just saw Bono singing "I Am the Walrus" costume in a scene from "Across the Universe." I need to see this movie.
-----Home. Not feeling that great...thyroid problems bothering me....what they call "storms." This always seems to happen after the stress of a doctor visit and blooddraw. That just reminds's office was supposed to call with the results, and hasn't....must go make phone call.

My kind of club....

I hope that I am accepted. Obviously, (to my regular readers) I won't be rejected for lack of being prolific.'s Blogaholics Anonymous Award!

Enjoying my blogging addiction. :-)

UPDATE: I am in! I am excited to belong to a blogroll where I know that people will update frequently...lots of people to visit and get to know. :-)

Let the Party Begin!!!

Ultimate Blog Party 2008

LADIES of the blogosphere are invited to the party.
-I am also having a drawing for the GENTLEMEN afterwards...see the end of the post about the prize. :-)

Stay tuned to this blog for links to yummy food, great people and fabulous entertainment. :-)

Don't forget to hop over to the BIG party at 5 Minutes for Mom....sign up for TONS more prizes, get your blog noticed and meet GREAT people.

I attended last year (with about 900 other people). Let's see if we can beat the attendance this year!!!

832 people have shown up at the main party already!!!!! (Last time I checked.)
I really think we can beat that attendance record!!!!!

Of course, one just has to start the party with "Girls Just Want to Have Fun"

(Obtained from Cyndi's official website...cause I follow copyrights.) :-)

Decided to wait for another party to have Blue Man Group....the repainting might be a little expensive after the party....but we can play their videos. I especially enjoy the "The Current" (which was on one of the Terminator soundtracks).

Oh, and if you haven't met me around the Blogosphere:
I am Business Student who plans to open a Coffee Shop with a Hobby Store on the premises (who sometimes capitalizes whatever she feels is important). I love to cook (always trying to develop my own recipes). You can find me on newest passion...I am @bluestbutterfly, if you want to join my Twitter buds. Sometimes I can be found sitting around listening to music in Second Life. Usually, you will find me every day here....I talk a lot. :-)

Hungry yet??? Food from Peru and panini always LOOKS good to me,too.

Will you be the first guest brave enough to try the lampfrey soup???

Perhaps someone at the party really likes books??? I talk a lot at, here's this one.....ten dollars shipping is economical. is an interesting book/idea to fundraise. :-) I could not buy a $30,000 book at this point-in-time.

Other entertainment:
-----Cinderella's "You Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)"....yes, I know it's sort of a sad song....but I love it. :-)
-----What if George Bush came to sing??? What would you karaoke with George?

In My Life

-----Watched "The 6th Day" starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Of course, there has to be a Terminator reference "I might be back." This movie does horrible things to a very pretty Cadillac convertible. Obviously, I am tired because I mistook Robert Duvall for Rudy Giuliani.
-----Our refrigerator burned out...lots of smoke and we had to get a new one yesterday. The kitchen still smells pretty bad and I went to work with all my clothing smelling burnt. At least it happened right as we were leaving....could have had no house. Anyway....the old refrigerator had a broken door, one of the shelves was missing. I had gotten so used to only a shelf for sauces on the door. This evening I was freaking out because I could not find the juice that we bought...thought maybe it had been left out and gone bad...or we had left it in the car and it had gone bad. Turns out it was on the new refrigerator shelf that I had forgotten about and not thought to look at. :-)
-----Thinking of going to Cornerstone.....a massive Christian music festival. Trying to figure out how to liveblog it...expect musical weirdness and fun antics here on this blog (if I can figure a way to go).
-----Instead of saying "of epic proportions" my new phrase is "of weird proportions" describe the massively weird.

Thursday Thirteen

I am obsessed with I am obsessed with pico de gallo. :-)
For those opposed to cilantro, currently has 1,841 members. In the forum you can even find alternatives for recipes that are normally "cilantro-infested."

Not one I will ever be trying. I am squeamish about chicken blood...let alone BLOOD-sucking fish.

3. Jeff Healey guestbook....leave a few thoughts. I had really wanted to see him perform in my lifetime. A unique and strong-willed person.

4. Apparently, Ron Paul is dropping out of the presidential race.

5. I have lost 15 pounds this past year!!!
I have hypothyroidism/inflamed thyroid/goiter problems. My medicine is FINALLY starting to work (didn't before despite rigorous efforts). Maybe I won't have to have parts of my thyroid removed after all. Excited...but waiting for blood tests to see if I have to take more medicine.

6. Our Thursday this week is the anniversary of the fall of the Alamo.

7. Von Maur...lower your prices. You are ridiculous. This has been a personal rant after seeing a quilted jacket with a bottom that DIDN'T match at all upon close inspection...$319.00!!!...and my husband couldn't control the fact that he openly laughed in scorn at the price. You did provide some humor during my stressful and long trek to the endocrinologist....maybe the humor is worth me coming back to LAUGH MORE (but I won't be buying that bright red-on-red quilted jacket with the navy lycra shirt hanging out underneath).

8. St. Patrick's Day coming up. Apparently, one bar is banning the singing of "Danny Boy" and another place is holding a marathon of it...NEITHER seems like the thing to do.

9. Desktop Tower Defense....easy and FREE game. I am starting to get the hang of it and getting good at strategy. :-)
Have fun playing.

10. Missed Celebrity Apprentice this week. I am hoping that Omarosa, who makes speculations about peoples' personal lifes, is fired.

Chris | Live Tech Support | Video Help | Add to iTunes
Chris Pirillo unboxing the Apple "Time Capsule"....makes me wish I didn't have a Dell (or that Dell had something similar).

12. Reminder: Back up your computer files.

13. I will be giving away a prize at "The Ultimate Blog Party." I hope the winner enjoys.

Why Poop is Good for Your Home

Houses powered by cow manure....happening in California. Husband was happy when I told him this as he wrote several papers about this (and other forms of Green Energy) in college. Husband has been an avid supporter of recycled energy for years. :-)

-I am glad that there are precautions...imagine death by falling into a 33-foot deep pool of cow poop.

-Worrying that there might be dangers to this. Sometimes, I read in the news about methane fires and explosions. 5 football fields is a LARGE fire/explosion.

Wanted: Bush & Cheney

Well those towns in Vermont that I have mentioned DID vote to arrest Bush & Cheney. I wonder how enforceable that is...would either be willingly arrested??? Perhaps, the unlikely probability of this arrest being allowed/upheld is why the resolution is "symbolic and non-binding."

Do you want the nosebleed seats???

I really want to see Cirque du Soleil's traveling production of "Saltimbanco" but can't justify the money for good seats. I was talking to husband about this and mentioned how unsatisfying the "nosebleed seats" would be for a circus/acrobatic show.

Husband had gone to a lot of major sports events in his youth and thought that the nosebleed seats were the good seats...the seats where you might get hit in the face by a hockey puck or something and get a nosebleed. :-)

While Googling "nosebleed seats" to verify my stance on the term, I found out that nosebleed seats were actually desirable in Elizabethian times...makes sense considering the seating for those of importance even further back (Colliseum days).

I wish that I could justify spending a little and taking binoculars....but know that I would not experience the wonder.

Someday, I will go to Las Vegas or something and pay for one of their nicer packages...private lounge, etc. Fun to think of the Somedays.

How are you supporting your candidate?
Know who you are supporting yet?

Where the presidential race begins....with the volunteers. Interesting to see all the efforts...people come for all over.

Oddly, we have never been "canvassed" by anyone. Perhaps, it is because neither of us have a party affiliation.
Van Halen on hold....Eddie has some sort of illness.

The Nubrella

Reminds me of the Jafa (spelling) from StarGate. At least, it won't turn inside out on windy days...that's a good thing. I just don't think this product is going to do well....unless it is marketed heavily, in a lot of U.S. towns, this would be grounds for a severe making-fun-of.

-This will make even more of a mess when it is taken off...does the company have some solution to that?
-This umbrella would be great for bicycle riding...perhaps that should be the main marketing angle. It would then sell well in countries with a lot of bicycle-riders and those converting to other forms of transportation in response to the high gas prices.
"Sometimes Dad Isn't Right" :-)
-----I want to see the never-aired pilot episode of "Gilligan's Island" (in which Gilligan's first name was used for the only time ever). Good or bad...if the pilot still exists somewhere, I would like to see it.
-----If Star Wars were titled Saul Bass style :-)

Shooting at Wendy's :-(

Shooting at a Florida Wendy's. What seems to be random patrons.
The man was wearing a business suit....not an all black outfit (as is usually reported). I wonder if this was planned or something bad happened in his day before the lunch hour. Sad for the people injured/killed and the children who saw it.

There is such a trend to shootings in this country lately. It makes you think about not going anywhere. Who wants to be the statistic....the one who got randomly shot???

Jeff Healey

RIP Jeff Healey...has lost battle with cancer. He had faced several battles with cancer in his lifetime. :-(

I had hoped to see him perform sometime during my lifetime as I found his talent to be unique (not a copycat like so many musicians).

-Jeff's first name was actually Norman. Norman Healey....still sounds like a good name for a musician. :-)
-The reason why Jeff was blind was retinal cancer as a child. Obviously, learning to play the guitar on one's knees creates a different I said he was unique. Maybe after I learn to play the guitar in the more traditional way, I will experiment with playing in Healey's style...I like doing little things like that in memorial of people.
-I am looking forward to his new album "Mess of Blues." As far as I know this album is still coming out and I will be buying it.

Horrible gas prices.

No surpise, gas prices expected to go up in the U.S. this summer. will certainly be my much consulted friend during that time.

A South Florida Sun-Sentinel writer is seeking your thoughts and stories for an article about people who are turning to public transportation (due to the gas prices).

Dali/Shirley Temple

Slightly creepy Salvador Dali painting of Shirley Temple

May 10...Jenna Bush least that is the media-reported date.

May 11...Mother's Day (United States)....DON"T FORGET.

Summer 2008 Batman:Dark Knight...trailer

July 25...X-Files 2 comes out

2nd Half of 2008-"Blood Bowl" (football with "Warhammer" characters) will be available in several formats. We will be buying the PC version. Here is an idea of what the game will be like.

November...Boy George's next court date. He has pled not guilty.

-----Saw the new Iron Man trailer in HD....pretty.
-----Apparently, Omarosa decides to accuse Piers of being a homosexual on the next episode of Celebrity Appprentice. This is the second time Omarosa has crossed the line as far as personal remarks....the first time saying that Piers was a bad father because his children no longer lived with him (divorced if I remember correctly). I think that Omarosa should be the one to go home....just based on the fact that her remarks have gotten TOO personal.
-----Yet another person detests the show "Moment of Truth."

I don't hear literacy talked about enough.
